If, like most homeowners, your property is built of brick, then you’ll need to keep an eye on the pointing of your home.

将砖块粘合在一起的砂浆是房屋结构的一个组成部分,当它减弱时,可能会导致长期的损害。

We’ve put together this guide to give you an idea of the costs involved in repointing.

Repointing costs

Repointingis a relatively simple process, that involves routing out the old mortar and replacing it with new mortar.

Old mortar will need to be cleared out to a depth of at least 20mm to make the new mortar effective, and while it can be applied in small areas that have been particularly affected by water damage, in general it will need to be done to an entire wall, as mortar will tend to deteriorate at a similar rate.

If quoting per number of bricks, then 1,000 bricks will be around £350 to £450 - a couple of day’s work.
