am i legally required to face the smoothe side of my fence to my neighbour, he say's i am.

What are my legal rights when erecting a fence if the adjoining neighbour is opposed?

I am looking to build a fence between my and my neighbours driveway. There is currently no fence, and due to disputes with neighbours am wanting to seperate the driveways. I have checked the plans to the property and there is a mention that we should maintain one side of the fence and the neighbour the other, unluckily the neighbour has the boundary which the fence would run along. Does this mean I can't build the fence at all or just that once its built I don't legally need to maintain it?
Thanks

if you are responsible for a boundary fencing and replace it with concrete post and gravel boards which side do you show to the neighbour the rough or smooth?

Fencing not erected along boundary

My neighbour has erected a new fence and has moved the fence posts so thay are now around 20-40cm off the boundary and the whole fence is now in my garden. My garden is only 6m wide so it's a fair chunk of my garden. Fence is also not in a straight line. I would like to disguise it with a fence or trellis on my side of the boundary because it is an ugly concrete fence and poor quality. This will be difficult to do without losing 0.5 metres off my garden unless their fence is removed, Can I make them take it down and reposition it?

Further information. The property is privately owned. I have had a conversation with the neighbours and given them a detailed letter with photos and a copy of the section of the title deeds relating to the boundary. They simply do not understand where the boundary is even though it's plainly obvious and written in the documents they signed. I think they are just trying to enlarge their garden by enroachment. The fence was erected by a builder - shame on them!

Fence loose, blowing in the wind

I've got a 10 foot fence in the back of my garden, and with all the wind lately it is loose. I've pinpointed the fence post that is loose, but I can't tell what's wrong. It's a big, thick timber post, and I'm assuming that it has been concreted in but I can't tell. For the time being I've tied the post to a tree, but I'm just wondering what the best approach would be for setting the post. Should it dig around it and pour some new concrete? I really don't want to take the fence down because it's huge. In general it's in good condition.

what are maximum heights allowed for fences between properties. What are best fencing options?

we live in a terraced house. We have neighbours two doors along who live in an adjoining new buid with a raised garden. They have just built a fence around one side of their garden (furthest from us) that must be atleast 2m high and looks very imposing above our garden. We want to build our own fence to extend above our existing brick wall of 5ft tall, with wood, that does not obscure bottom section of brick wall and is within our garden and our side of the wall.

can my neighbour erect a fence, higher than mine & fixing it onto my fence posts

Replacing wooden fence post

Hi,

My wooden fence post, that is concreted into the ground, is damaged/rotting at the base. It sways a lot, and isn't going to hold much longer. I've bought the replacement post and concrete mix, but after digging, am not sure if it's something I can do (novice DIYer).

I'm in Milton Keynes.

Thanks

Edit: Thank you all for your kind and helpful replies. I will consider doing it myself. However, if a professional can do it at an affordable cost, I'd consider that option. If any of your are local(ish) to MK & interested in the job, can you please give me a quote ? I've dug about 1foot & old post is not out yet. As indicated, I have the replacement post & postmix.

Fence not tall enough for privacy

I put a six foot fence up, but my neighbour built a patio about 1.5 feet higher than the patio level on my side. They also built a low brick wall around it. So when they stand on it, I can see their whole head and more if the person is taller. So I have no privacy on my patio. I have started taking it down to build a taller one. (A lot of effort having to dig out 2 perfectly good 8ft concrete posts just to put 9ft ones in). When I started doing this they complained that I couldn’t, because it was already high enough. I tried to explain that as we can see each other, neither of us has any privacy, but they took offence to that!
So can I build a fence higher than 6’ 6” on grounds of privacy? If I can, how do I determine how high I can go without the authorities telling me to take it down? If not, could I put the fence say 7ft tall & then raise a small section of my patio that sits in front of the fence to within 6’ 6” inches of the height of the fence? Will that then meet regulations, if so, what’s the minimum size of the section that would need to be raised? Finally, is there any restriction on the height of concrete posts? So if I did have to reduce the height of the fence by 6 inches, could I just cut the panels and leave the posts at 7ft tall?
