About Ed Shaw Masonry

After apprenticing as a bricklayer in the newbuild housing side of construction I went on to work for a barn conversion company. This is when I found my passion for restoration work and looking after buildings of importance or just buildings of age. This is where I first started using lime mortar and lime puttys and also stone after gaining a vast knowledge of these materials I decided to study at Weymouth college in conservation and stonemasonry. During my time at college I matched this with a second apprenticeship with the cathedral works organisation, where I spent 4 years working stone and learning the traditional masonry skills from some of the best masons in the country. I got to spend a lot of time after this on site learning various restoration and conservation techniques, including stone repair, matching of guaged mortars, stone cleaning, brickwork repairs and matching along with tuck pointing.
After this I have worked for myself carrying out newbuild and restoration jobs around the south of the country with many years in London also.
I have done work for;
Historic royal palaces
Tower of London
Hampton court palace
Windsor castle
Lancing college
St Mary's church ( eastbourne )
St matiaus church ( heritage award winner )
Too many to list but these were some of my favourites and most notable.
我一直在许多属性和对待每一个job the same with regards to doing the best job I possibly can and giving the customer a sound job carried out with good communication and left clean and tidy. I pride myself on my work.
