Where can i stick my downpipe?

Hi
my neighbour is complaining that our shared front gutter is overflowing and damaging his house. There is a gutter shared but the two houses with the downpipe on his side. There is no reason i can see why ours should be any different to all the other shared gutters in the terrace - but he is insisting that i should install a downpipe at my side. I don't mind doing this but where can i send the water to ? there is no drain i can see, a very small raised front garden with a wall then the street. If the water goes in the garden it will flood i expect and affect the house. i believe a soakaway is very expensive to do and i'm not sure there's room. he says i can run it into the street but that sounds dodgy. any ideas? he is now threatening solicitors....many thanks

Be careful I believe it' is illegal now to run rain water onto the pavement. And when it comes to a soakaway it's got to be at least 5 m from the property.
It could be as simple as A blocked downpipe causing The guttering to overflow. So it would be best to just get someone off my builder.com to check your neighbours downpipes first. Good luck.

if the existing down pipe goes into a drain , then he is stuck with it, sorry but he new their was a shared downpipe before he bought the house live with or move, sounds like a bully to me, it is now illegal to run any new rain water outlet onto the street or into the drain, the only reason it would be overflowing is if it is not maintained properly.
