If there is a large amount of plaster falling off, making holes bigger than, say a can of beans size, there is more than say 10 of these areas it is not doing much to the walls until you can afford to plaster, but if they are smaller you can remove the plaster very carefully and put some thing like unbound around the holes and inside the holes, try and get some to run down behind the plaster on the walls so this will help the plaster that has not come away from the bricks, this will help bound the plaster around the holes bound back to the bricks when dry you can fill the holes with filler rub down and paint or best to put up wallpaper,
