1 day old newly felted roof - water collecting in same place

Morning

A newish roofing company (Dec 2019) in Newcastle has refelted an extension flat roof for me yesterday and says guaranteed for 10 years. There is water collecting in same place as before. Would like advice on if this is normal? And what paperwork I should ask for the guarantee?

Old roof had bubbling / blistering and water collecting in exactly the same area. I've had the house 10 months and surveyor had advised replacement. I got in touch with this company as they were doing other houses on my street. I asked for it to be converted to pitched and for review of additional insulation. They advised given current costs of timber just to replace the felt.

They've done:
-replaced some flat timbers? But not sure they checked the supports or insulation. I think they laid new over old??

- 3 layer replacement of felt. Their description: "should last 10+ years! We use commercial felt it's 3 layer system ( 1 liquid binder, 1 waterproofing, 1 cap sheet which gives you the finish)"

-offering 10 year guarantee though not sure what this is worth with a new company.

Roofers were lovely but feeling some pressure from the company director to let this go because he has bills to pay. He said it is is normal for water to sit and collect before it drains into gutters.

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Although material prices are higher you should have asked 2/3 companies for quotes and gone from there for what you wanted .
All the old felt and boards should have been removed & New timber tapers should have been fitted to create a better fall for the water to run off , along with new 18mil OSB boards . Then the felt . Trying to get your money back or claim may be more hassle than it’s worth . I would again asked for quotes from some more established companies and take there recommendations on pitching the roof if that is your aim .

I would agree to most of the previous roofers comments
but i would insist the nice roofers come back and correct the fall that is causing the water to sit. And request they bring with them the 10YEAR GUARANTEE.

Generally I don’t disagree with the previous advice. But personally I try to steer customers away from flat roofs and advice on a pitched roof, unless there is no alternative. Simply because they are more efficient at displacing water. Ultimately they are also more cost effective than a flat roof. Because they have a longer shelf life, cost less to repair and although the cost of installation is more than a flat roof it’s not that much more,

If you explained about the pooling you should have been offered firrings and new decking to alleviate issues the associated costs were an option for your decision process, it is normal practice for felters to go straight over the top, not necessarily best practice.
