Central Heating

Can radiator valves be capped on a new ch install?

We are due to have gas central heating fitted in our home in August (we are in a housing association flat). We want to use our own radiators but have not gotten round to buying them as do not currently have funds for a large outlay. Is it possible that the engineers doing the fitting will be able to cap the radiator points in each room for radiator fitting at a later date?

Yes. Make sure all has been done safely and correctly. Maybe best waiting and having all the work done at once rather than waiting for other work to be done once rads off.

The filters will probably need at least one radiator connecting so they can properly commission the boiler.

Yes they can be. You would be better to link one of them to create a circuit for testing and safety of your boiler ( unless it has an internal bipass fitted )

The radiators you choose may not be same sizes as the installers would fit.
If there is no cost implication let them fit their radiators and then change later
